About this tool
This tool compares two versions of a text and shows exactly what changed: removed lines in red, added lines in green, and the changed words highlighted inside each line. Use it to check edits to documents and contracts, compare code or configuration files, or spot differences between two lists.
How to use
- Paste the original text on the left and the changed text on the right.
- The differences appear below instantly, with line numbers from both texts.
- Tick "Ignore case" or "Ignore extra spaces" to skip unimportant differences, and "Hide unchanged lines" to see only the changes.
FAQ
How does the comparison work?
It finds the longest sequence of lines the two texts share (the "longest common subsequence" method used by tools like Git). Every other line was removed or added. Within a changed line, the same method is applied to words to highlight what changed.
Are my texts uploaded anywhere?
No. The comparison runs in your browser, so confidential documents and code never leave your device.
Is there a size limit?
Texts with many thousands of lines work well when most lines are the same. If two large texts are almost completely different, the tool asks you to compare smaller parts to keep your browser responsive.
