About this tool

This password generator creates strong, random passwords using your browser’s built-in cryptographic random number generator. Choose the length and which characters to include — lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols — and optionally leave out characters that look alike. Passwords are created on your device and are never sent anywhere or saved.

How to use

  1. Set the password length with the slider or number box. 16 characters or more is a good choice.
  2. Choose the character types to include. Every selected type is guaranteed to appear at least once.
  3. Optionally exclude similar-looking characters such as I, l, 1, O and 0, or generate several passwords at once.
  4. Copy a password with one click, or press Generate for a new one.

FAQ

Are these passwords safe to use?

Yes. Passwords are created with the Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), the same secure random source browsers use for encryption. They are generated on your device and never transmitted.

Does the site store the passwords I generate?

No. Generated passwords are never saved — not on a server and not in your browser. Only your settings, such as length and character types, are remembered for next time.

How long should my password be?

Use at least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts. Longer passwords are much harder to guess than short passwords with many symbols.

What does the strength meter mean?

It estimates entropy — how many guesses an attacker would need — from the length and the number of possible characters. "Strong" and "Very strong" passwords are suitable for most accounts.

Why exclude similar characters?

Characters like I, l, 1, O and 0 are easy to mix up when you read or type a password by hand. Excluding them makes passwords easier to copy manually while only slightly reducing strength.
