Convert CSV or Excel data to a JSON array of objects, with numbers and booleans typed.

About this tool
This tool converts CSV data — from Excel, Google Sheets, a database export or any .csv file — into JSON. By default the first row becomes the property names and each following row becomes an object. Numbers and true/false are converted to real JSON values, while codes with leading zeros (like PIN codes) stay as text. Quoted values with commas or line breaks are handled correctly.
How to use
- Paste your CSV, or copy cells straight from Excel or Google Sheets (they paste as tab-separated text).
- The separator is detected automatically. Untick "First row is the header" to get arrays instead of objects.
- Copy the JSON or download it as data.json.
FAQ
My file uses semicolons — will it work?
Yes. Excel in many European languages saves CSV with semicolons. The tool detects commas, semicolons, tabs and pipes automatically, or you can choose the separator yourself.
Why is "0123" kept as text and not a number?
Numbers with leading zeros are usually codes — PIN codes, phone numbers, IDs — and turning them into numbers would lose the zero. Untick "Convert numbers & booleans" to keep every value as text.
What happens with empty or repeated column names?
An empty header becomes "column3" (by its position), and a repeated one gets a number, like "name_2".
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, so your data never leaves your device.
