About this tool

This tool capitalizes the first letter of each line in your text — handy for lists, names, addresses and bullet points. You can also switch to Capitalize Each Word for titles, or Sentence case to start every sentence with a capital letter.

How to use

  1. Paste or type your text into the Input box.
  2. By default the first letter of every line is capitalized. Choose another option above the text if you need each word or each sentence capitalized instead.
  3. Copy the result or download it as a text file.

FAQ

What is the difference between the capitalize options?

"Capitalize first letter of each line" changes only the first letter of every line and leaves the rest as typed. "Capitalize Each Word" makes every word start with a capital. "Sentence case" makes everything lowercase except the first letter of each sentence.

What happens to lines that start with a bullet or number?

Leading spaces, bullets and numbers are skipped, and the first actual letter on the line is capitalized.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion happens in your browser, so your text never leaves your device.

Does it work with accented and non-English letters?

Yes. Letters such as é, ü and ß are converted correctly, as are letters from other alphabets that have upper and lower case.

Can I switch to another conversion?

Yes. Use the buttons above the text to switch between lowercase, UPPERCASE, capitalizing the first letter of each line, Capitalize Each Word, Sentence case and the programming styles (camelCase, snake_case and more). Your text stays in place.
